Net Zero Carbon Alliance

Every single industry today will be
affected by the need to reduce
carbon dioxide emissions.

Taking the necessary actions that prepare ourselves and the country
for these massive shifts in how the world works will be worthwhile
investments with immeasurable returns.

Federico R. Lopez

CHAIRMAN AND CEO, ENERGY
DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION

The Energy Development Corporation (EDC) launched the Net Zero Carbon Alliance—a multi-sectoral movement toward attaining net zero carbon emissions among businesses in the Philippines— as part of its mission to forge collaborative pathways for a decarbonized and regenerative future.

The Net Zero Carbon program provides partners a roadmap to achieve carbon neutrality by sharing best practices, scaling up carbon emission reduction and tracking, and providing better access to green financing, among many other capacity-building tools.

OUR MISSION

To be the Philippine private sector’s guiding
force toward achieving carbon neutrality.

To collaborate with as many companies
and organizations that all commit to become
carbon neutral on or before 2050.

NET ZERO CARBON

WHAT DOES NET ZERO
CARBON MEAN?

Net zero carbon aims to balance the global CO2 emissions and collective CO2 removal efforts over a specific period as its end goal. Like a half-filled bathtub with both an open drain and faucet—taking in as much water as it is letting out—net zero carbon does not mean zero emissions, but the removal of carbon at the same rate emissions occur.

As a key tenet of the Paris Accord, achieving net zero carbon emissions by the midpoint of the 21st century should prevent us from experiencing the worst effects of climate change.

HOW NZCA CAN HELP

The alliance is there to provide guidance and trusted partners to help your company achieve your net zero carbon goals.

CALCULATE YOUR
CARBON EMISSIONS

The first step to being a net zero carbon company is to identify and understand your organization’s climate-related impact by calculating your carbon footprint. Guided by the Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Protocol, our Carbon Footprint Calculator is an essential tool to get you started. Join us in championing effective net zero best practices by learning more about the foundations of GHG accounting today.

FREQUENTLY-ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQs)
